End Of Year Degree Show

Before I headed home to the sunny seaside delights Cornwall had waiting for me, I couldn't leave without taking a peak at this years graduates end of year show. And it did not disappoint! As someone who's taken a particular interest in illustration I couldn't help but be drawn to the more illustrative designs, beautiful books, witty comic strips and vibrant patterns were among some of my favourite pieces.

My favourite exhibit of all was a beautifully crafted book called "Where the Sea meets the Sky" illustrated by Helen Cooke. The story appealed greatly to me, being a lover of all things arty and nautical I couldn't help but photograph every page from cover to cover. Everything was carefully constructed from the thoughtful type to the patterned inner pages, I adored the use of shape and the way the text weaved round the circular illustrations. The quirky characters and beautifully textured settings would have had a much younger me begging to hear the story all over again before bedtime.

Books like these make me keen to create my own stories with what I can only dream to be equally mesmorising illustrations - who knows, perhaps I could even write it too!
